The HOLY SPIRIT
Becoming a Christian
"All Scripture is given by the inspiration of GOD." By "inspiration" we mean that the HOLY SPIRIT put forth HIS supernatural influence upon the writers of the BIBLE. "Inspired" literally translated is: "GOD breathed." Therefore the Scriptures are GOD inspired word for word. By this we mean that every word, in the original sixty-six books, is fully and equally inspired in all of its teachings. The writers of the BIBLE did not write by natural inspiration, or an act of the human will. The result is the infallible WORD of GOD. Therefore the BIBLE is free from error and absolutely trustworthy. (II Tim. 3:16,17; II Peter 1:21; Ps. 119:89; Ps. 12:6; Matt. 24:35).
The BIBLE reveals GOD as the only infinite and Eternal Being, having no beginning and no end. HE is everywhere present in the universe. HE has all power. HE has all knowledge. HE is eternal. HE is Creator and Sustainer of all things. HE is the supreme personal intelligence, and the only righteous ruler of HIS universe. HE is life, and therefore, the only source of life. HE has revealed HIMSELF as the Triune GOD known as FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT, three distinct persons in one GOD. (John 5:26; I Peter 1:2; Heb. 1:8; John 1:14; Acts 5:3,4; John 16:7-11; John 16:12-15; Gen, 1:26; Matt. 3:16-17; Matt. 28:19).
Christianity is the life of one man named JESUS who is the SON of GOD. HE is the supreme subject of the New Testament, and fulfills all the promises of GOD in the Old Testament, from HIS incarnation to HIS Second Coming as "LORD of lords and KING of kings." JESUS was in the beginning as GOD and was creator with GOD. JESUS came to die a sacrificial and substitutional death for humanity to understand GOD and HIS love towards HIS creation. HE was raised from the dead proving what HE claimed. HE is LORD and worthy of our total worship as Master of our life. (Matthew 28:18; John 1:1-18; 5:39; 8:28; 20:31; Phil. 2:10-11; Rev. 17:14).
The HOLY SPIRIT is GOD, and is equal to the FATHER and the SON. Every born again believer is indwelt by the HOLY SPIRIT. Baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT with evidence of speaking to one another in Psalms and spiritual songs and making melody in your heart, giving thanks for all things is the manifestation for evaluation of the SPIRIT in another human, not any one particular gift of the SPIRIT. (Ps. 139:7-10; Luke 1:35; I Cor. 10:11; Heb. 9:14; Matt. 28:19; II Cor 13:14; Eph. 5:18-21).
Since GOD is the one who pursues us, it is GOD who gives the gift of eternal life. We did not do anything to deserve nor can we do anything to keep this free gift. We may fall desperately away from the relationship but we can never lose what GOD gave, what GOD keeps, and what GOD ordained. This means those who accept this free gift must not take advantage of the grace of GOD, nor should we feel insecure on whether we have this gift from one day to the next. (John 3:16-18; 10:27-28; Rom. 8:29-39; II Tim. 1:12; Heb. 7:25; 10:10, 14; I Pet. 1:3-5).
"You must be born again." The new birth is receiving JESUS CHRIST as Savior and Lord by faith. First: "whoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved." The lost cannot call on the GOD to be saved until they believe... "that CHRIST died for our sins according to the Scriptures; And that HE was buried. And that HE rose again the third day according to the Scriptures." Second: The lost cannot believe in HIM until they hear the good news of salvation and accept the fact they are lost and need GOD to forgive them. "So then faith (saving faith) comes by hearing." We are not born with saving faith; it comes only when we hear the gospel and accept it as the only way into the family of GOD. We cannot do anything to earn this free gift of eternal life and entry into the family of GOD. Once we accept GODís forgiveness and JESUS as Savior we must submit to JESUS as LORD (ruler) of our life. (Matt. 28:18-20; John 1:12; 3:3-7; Acts 2:38-41; 7:54-60; 9:1-18; 16:25-40; Rom. 10:13-17; I Cor. 15:1-4; Eph. 2:6-10).
